Old baking molds will become a thing of the past for you

22.10.2021

We are gradually starting the planning of Christmas baking. We carefully think about the recipes that will please our loved ones. It is not enough to prepare only recipes, ingredients and decorations, baking aids and special molds that are used only once a year also need precise preparation. If you have already given up on your molds, try our tips for reviving them and give them another chance to shine during the Christmas preparations. We know that after baking it is best to just rub them with a cloth to avoid further coating with butter or oil. Sometimes, however, they need to take a second breath, and Liana's citric acid and Liana's baking soda will help you with this.

Do metal molds have a place of honor in your home, but the ravages of time have left visible damage on them? You don't have to give up these treasures. It only takes a little to make your molds shine like new. The procedure is really simple:

1. Place the molds in the pot and cover them with water so that they are all submerged.
2. Add the baking powder . In general, you need 1 bag of Effervescent Powder for ¼ liter of water.
3. After reaching the boiling point, cook for at least 10 minutes.
4. Leave to cool for about 6 hours, ideally overnight.
5. Rinse the molds under running water and dry thoroughly.

If you would like to involve the children in the cleaning, prepare a cleaning paste for the molds. If they see the result of their work, it will be doubly fun for them.

1. Mix 1 bag of Baking Powder with a small amount of water.
2. Using a toothbrush with fine bristles, apply the paste to the molds and clean by gently scrubbing.
3. After cleaning, wash them with soapy water, rinse and dry well.

In any case, baking powder can be replaced with baking soda. If your molds are extremely dirty and you feel that nothing can save them, try a cleaning combo that consists of Liana Baking Powder , Liana Baking Soda and white vinegar. Even in this case, the procedure is quite simple and can work wonders:

1. Add 2 bags of baking powder , 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 cup of white vinegar to a pot of water.
2. Add the molds and cook for at least 15 to 20 minutes.
3. Remove the molds and leave to cool.
4. Rinse the cooled molds in lukewarm water and dry them completely.

Always make sure that the molds are completely dry before putting them away, otherwise they are at risk of rust, and you won't be able to get rid of it easily. Older generations especially recommend drying the molds in a heated oven. Cleaning with a dishwasher is not recommended under any circumstances. Dishwasher-safe detergents may contain chlorine or other chemicals that could cause rust to form more quickly. Normally degreased molds just need to be wiped with a paper tissue or washed with warm water so that they are ready for further use.

WARNING! for stainless steel molds, you could irreversibly damage them by boiling them for a long time in a solution of baking powder, baking soda or vinegar.

Silicone molds for baking are in a completely different category. We love them just because the baked dough just slides out of them. But in order for the form to fulfill its function to 100%, it is necessary to dedicate your time to it. Cleaning the smooth silicone molds does not cause any problems. This does not apply when cleaning cake molds or cupcakes that contain various folds.

Citric acid is a dedicated helper in cleaning various kitchen utensils, this is doubly true in the case of silicone molds. Dissolve a bag of Liana citric acid in warm, not boiling, water, immerse the silicone molds in the solution and leave for 15-20 minutes. In this way, the coating will come off even the narrowest folds. At the end, just rinse the molds and you can bake in clean.

You can achieve a more thorough cleaning with the help of baking soda, but the whole process will take more time. Pour 4 liters of water into the pot, add 3 tablespoons of Liana baking soda and 3 tablespoons of classic detergent. Immerse the molds in them and start cooking. After reaching the boiling point, cook for another 5 minutes. After weaning, let it act in the solution for another 20 minutes. Rinse the mold and dry it.

Do the same if you use a combination of baking soda and citric acid. Boil half a liter of water together with 2 tablespoons of Liana bicarbonate of soda and 2 tablespoons of Liana citric acid . When the water starts to foam, apply the mixture to the surface of the molds and let it work for at least 15-20 minutes. If you want to achieve an even better effect, soak the molds in hot water before cleaning.

You can also use the above-mentioned methods of cleaning silicone molds when cleaning silicone spatulas, whisks and butter churns. Regular cleaning of the molds will not only ensure a clean surface of your kitchen tools, but also ensure a longer life for them, while dirty molds lose their quality.

Special brushes for cleaning decorative tips will help you clean it. You can find them separately or in sets with different decorating tips .
