I'm a beginner: What tools will I definitely need to make baking easy?

30.01.2024

Baking is literally a science. It requires the right proportions of raw materials, time and also the right tools. With good tools, even a complete beginner will be able to bake by hand. If you are one of them, this article is just for you. We will advise you on what you must not miss when baking to begin with and it will make your work in the kitchen easier.

  1. Oven

Electric or gas, built-in and free-standing ovens. The choice is entirely yours. But remember that every type of oven is different. Even though the recipe describes exactly how many degrees and how long to bake your favorite sweet treats, it is always necessary to check whether the cake is baked or not. unbaked, for example with a toothpick.

  1. Hand mixer

When preparing dough and cream, you cannot do without a good hand mixer. Once you have mastered the work with a mixer and whisks, we recommend also purchasing kneading whisks, which are used to prepare leavened doughs and bread/pastries.

  1. Bowls and containers for ingredients and for mixing

Stainless steel bowls with a rubberized edge and non-slip bottom are suitable for mixing, preparing dough or whipping. We recommend choosing taller bowls, this will allow you to comfortably mix and beat different ingredients without them spilling out of the bowl, or poured out.

  1. Kitchen Scale

A kitchen scale is generally recognized as the fastest way to weigh ingredients. It's always good to have it on hand, at least a smaller one.

  1. Rollers and pads

Wooden, plastic, silicone... There are many options. Especially when working with gluten-free yeast dough, we definitely recommend using silicone tools, it will help you work with the dough better and it won't stick. The mat adheres firmly to the table, the dough does not stick, after rolling it out with a silicone roller it is perfectly smooth. The silicone mat is perfectly storable, just roll it up after use.

  1. Baking paper

When using professional baking paper , you no longer need to grease the baking sheet or form with any grease. The paper will also serve well as a base for dessert boxes. Thanks to the paper's property of not allowing moisture to pass through, the cake will not deteriorate and the box will remain dry.

  1. Trowels and whisks

Even if it doesn't seem like it, a good silicone squeegee is really an invaluable tool. It is perfect for scraping the dough out of the bowl, or smoothing the cream or filling. The whisk is suitable for quick and easy manual whipping of creams, toppings, thin batters, egg whites and sauces.

  1. Sheet metal

When baking sweet dishes, you cannot do without a high-quality baking sheet. A high-quality baking sheet , preferably with a non-stick layer, is not only necessary for baking, but absolutely essential. Get one deep and one low to start with, you never know when you'll need one. A practical baking tray on which you can prepare a whole range of dishes will serve (not only) every beginner well.

9. Forms for baking

A large number of recipes for beginners, for example for corpuses, require the use of a round mold with a diameter of 20 cm . Be sure to get others, for example, a muffin tin, which you can use not only for muffins , but also for cupcakes, cupcakes and various savory snacks. It is also very welcome to have a cake mold at home. Since the recipes tend to be quick and easy, you won't be surprised by any last minute visit.

  1. Sitka

A practical sieve for sifting flour or powdered sugar is a great helper when baking cakes.

  1. Measurements

Measuring spoons and containers are useful and very practical tools, thanks to which you can accurately measure ingredients when baking (in containers, liquid ingredients are also included). You can use spoons especially when baking mug cakes.

  1. Silicone gloves

Compared to cotton gloves, silicone gloves have the advantage of being non-slip. If they get dirty, just wipe them with a paper towel or, if they are more dirty, you can easily rinse them with water. Cotton ones are more demanding to maintain. Always remember safety, which is very important when handling a hot object.
